IQ@IFW Validation Project “SWITCHable Probes”

New IQ@IFW Validation Project: “SWITCHable probes” launched!

The SWITCHable probes validation project is being launched as part of the IQ@IFW program to further develop a novel probe technology that is expected to significantly improve the measurement quality in magnetic force microscopy.

The goal of the initiative is to integrate a switching function into existing microscope probes so that non‑magnetic artifacts can be reliably eliminated. This opens up new application possibilities for the scientific community as well as for manufacturers of microscope and probe components.

Two patent applications have already been filed; additional protection and commercialization strategies will be developed during the project.

An important next step in the project is market and customer validation. Furthermore, laboratory tests and prototype developments will demonstrate technical feasibility in a more realistic environment.

Dr. Thomas Mühl from IFF:
„Together with my project partners, I am delighted about the funding from the IQ@IFW programme. The application process is quick and unbureaucratic. During the application phase, we received excellent support from the technology transfer team.”

We are pleased to accompany this innovation step and, together with IQ@IFW, move from research to market‑ready technology.
